Kathryn Abend, CFI, CFII
Independent Flight Instructor in Orlando & Apopka
Kathryn Abend is a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) & Certified Flight Instrument Instructor (CFII) providing independent flight instruction at Orlando Apopka Airport through the Countrywide Flyers Cooperative Association.
Born and raised in Florida, Kathryn discovered her passion for aviation at the age of 16 when she took her first discovery flight at KSRQ. What began as a single flight quickly turned into a lifelong pursuit as she began flight lessons shortly afterward.
Growing up near Florida’s coastline, one of Kathryn’s favorite experiences in aviation was taking off and immediately seeing the beach stretching below the airplane. That moment helped solidify her love for flying and the freedom aviation provides.
Today, Kathryn enjoys sharing that same excitement with new pilots and aviation enthusiasts as a flight instructor.
Passion for Aviation and Community
One of Kathryn’s favorite aspects of aviation is the community that comes with it. From student pilots to experienced aviators, the aviation world is filled with people who share a passion for flight, exploration, and learning.
Through her work with Countrywide Flyers, Kathryn enjoys helping new pilots begin their journey while also supporting fellow aviators who are continuing their training.
Her goal as an instructor is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students can build both confidence and skill in the cockpit.
Organizations like the
Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association
often highlight the importance of aviation community and mentorship in helping new pilots succeed.
